water cycle

each raindrop requires
one mote of dust. do your part.
exhale completely

rare flower

the moment you learn
that an old friend is the friend
of an older friend

pride

old redwood holds out
its shining toenail clipping
for the world to see

it’s a thing

a thing well known
has a life of its own
a thing well said
is already dead

night clouds

mind goes from this to that, from past to future.
words and images come and go,
in waves. the fog that settles in the bay
sustains the mighty redwood.
